Description

2-Pack Countertop Water Filter Cartridge
A pair of replacement filter elements tailored for bench‑top gravity water filter systems that sit beside a sink or on a kitchen counter. These cartridges typically fit into a lower chamber and filter water by gravity alone, with no plumbing or electrical connection. Inside the cylindrical housing, a dense block of activated carbon is combined with a depth filtration layer that physically screens out suspended particles, including rust, silt and microplastics down to a fine micron rating. The carbon block adsorbs chlorine, a number of volatile organic compounds and some heavy metals.

Everyday Water Improvement
Countertop systems are often placed in full view, so the water they produce is regularly used for drinking, making tea and coffee, filling pet bowls and cooking. By consistently reducing the sharp taste and smell of chlorine, the cartridge can make tap water more pleasant to drink at ambient temperature. The reduction of fine particles also contributes to a visual improvement, delivering water that appears brilliantly clear without floating specks or sediment. This can be particularly noticeable in areas where pipework is older and may shed rust particles into the supply.

Installation Steps
The replacement cartridge usually screws onto a threaded port in the upper chamber or seats firmly into a silicone grommet in the lower reservoir. Before fitting, it should be flushed with cold water until the discharge runs clear, which may take a couple of minutes. Once installed, the upper container is filled with tap water and left to drain through the cartridge into the lower holding container. Flow rates vary with temperature and water turbidity, but a full upper chamber commonly filters through in 15 to 30 minutes.

Replacement Frequency
Under typical domestic use, a cartridge will serve for about 1,000 litres of filtered water, which for a small family might equate to four to six months. Hard water loaded with sediment can shorten this period. Signs that a change is needed include a noticeably slower drip rate, a faint earthy odour in the filtered water, or the appearance of a slimy film on the cartridge surface — all indicators that the pores are becoming saturated. The two‑pack format means a spare can be kept in a cupboard, ready for immediate replacement.

Care and Material Notes
The outer shell is constructed from robust food‑grade plastic, and the internal media are enclosed in a polypropylene wrap. All components are free from BPA and phthalates. The system should be cleaned with warm water and a soft sponge between cartridge changes to prevent the build‑up of any biofilm in the reservoirs. This cartridge is designed exclusively for use with cold, treated tap water and should not be relied upon to remove viruses or to make non‑potable water drinkable.
